ZTE Libero Flip: The Most Affordable Foldable Phone in Japan
The Japanese smartphone market is seeing the introduction of the ZTE Libero Flip, which is giving tough competition to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 with one major trick up its sleeve – it is priced significantly lower.
The new ZTE foldable phone comes with a price tag of 63,000 Japanese Yen (420 US dollars), which is approximately 25,000 Egyptian pounds. However, pre-orders are getting a big discount, bringing the final price down to 39,800 Japanese Yen (265 US dollars), equivalent to 16,000 Egyptian pounds – making it the most affordable foldable phone to date.
ZTE Libero Flip Specifications
The ZTE Libero Flip features a 6.9-inch foldable OLED display with FHD+ resolution, and a secondary cover display measuring 1.43 inches with a resolution of 466×466 pixels. The Sub Display allows users to make calls, control media playback, and can also act as a viewfinder for using the main rear camera.
The device boasts a 50-megapixel primary lens alongside a 2-megapixel depth sensor, while the 6.9-inch main display also houses an integrated 16-megapixel front camera in a hole-punch cutout.
ZTE has also packed the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The device runs on Android 13 with ZTE UI on top, and ZTE has included specific foldable features allowing for separate menu items across the foldable screen sides.
It comes with a 4310mAh battery with 33W fast charging, compatible with Quick Charge 4+ and PD3.0 standards, and has an IP42 water and dust resistance rating, providing very low protection from ingress – so even scattered water may cause some damage. At least the device folds flat completely.
The ZTE Libero Flip comes in white, gold, and blue colors, and ZTE offers a large number of back covers to suit your preference. The device is already available for pre-order through the Japanese mobile carrier Y! Mobile, while open sales are set to begin on February 29.
